Joint Visits

Good afternoon, 

Today, Neighbourhood Policing Team along with Trading Standards have been visiting shops in Blackpool following complaints about offensive hats – you probably know the ones! Although these hats can be seen as funny/a joke, they are also viewed as offensive and inappropriate, so the selling/display of such items is restricted by law. 

Certain items must be kept in a specific area of a store with the correct Warning – stating ‘WARNING Persons passing beyond this notice will find material on display which they may consider indecent. No admittance to persons under the age of 18’. 

We’ve been offering advice to shops about where to place these items, so that they can be sold without complaint, limiting the impact on the community, but also enabling businesses to continue trading.
